Eliminating Termites From Wood Structures
Targeted Treatment That Reaches Where Termites Live
Wood is what termites eat. Every wood element in your South Florida home represents a potential food source for termite colonies. Structural framing, floor joists, roof trusses, door frames, window trim, baseboards, hardwood flooring, and decorative millwork all attract termite attention. When termites establish colonies in these wood elements, professional treatment is essential to stop the damage.
Florida Termite Guys specializes in treating termites within wood structures. Our approach goes beyond surface application. We identify all wood elements with termite activity, create precise access points, and inject professional-grade treatment directly into the wood where termites live. This targeted method reaches the heart of colonies, including areas invisible from the surface.
The goal is complete colony elimination, not just visible results. Termites you see represent a fraction of the colony. Workers, soldiers, and the queen hide deep within wood galleries, continuing to reproduce and consume even when surface treatments kill a few visible insects. Our wood treatment reaches the entire colony system.

Wood Elements We Treat
Complete protection for every wood component in your home
Structural Framing
Wall studs, floor joists, ceiling rafters, and roof trusses form your home's skeleton. We treat infested structural wood to protect building integrity.
Doors and Window Frames
Door jambs, window frames, and surrounding trim are common termite targets. Targeted treatment eliminates colonies in these areas.
Flooring and Subfloor
Hardwood floors, plywood subfloor, and floor joists all attract termites. We treat from below and through access points to reach colonies.
Trim and Millwork
Baseboards, crown molding, chair rails, and decorative woodwork receive targeted treatment to eliminate localized colonies.
Attic and Roof Structures
Roof framing, fascia boards, and attic structural elements are treated to protect your home from top-down infestation.
Garage and Exterior Wood
Garage framing, exterior trim, deck structures, and fence posts all benefit from professional wood treatment.
How Wood Treatment Works
The professional process that reaches deep colonies
Effective wood treatment requires more than surface application. Our process systematically addresses termite colonies within wood structures.
Locating All Infested Wood
Our inspection identifies every piece of wood with termite activity. Technicians check accessible and hidden areas, using knowledge of termite behavior and construction patterns. We tap wood to detect hollow sounds, look for exit holes and frass, and examine areas where termites commonly establish colonies.
Creating Treatment Access Points
Using specialized drilling equipment, we create small ports into infested wood members. These access points are strategically placed to reach termite galleries within the wood. Drill holes are typically 3/16 inch diameter, minimally visible and easily sealed after treatment.
Injecting Treatment Material
Through each access point, we inject professional-grade termiticide under controlled pressure. The product flows through termite galleries, contacting workers throughout the colony. Modern products are designed to transfer between termites, spreading to individuals we cannot directly reach, including the queen.
Sealing and Restoration
After treatment, we seal all drill ports with wood plugs or matching filler. In most cases, treated areas are nearly invisible once sealed. The wood is treated, the colony is eliminated, and your home looks the same as before.
Your Wood Treatment Timeline
From inspection to protection in efficient steps
Comprehensive Inspection
We examine all accessible wood elements throughout your property. You receive a detailed report of findings, including which wood has activity and recommendations for treatment.
Treatment Planning
Based on inspection findings, we create a treatment map showing all areas requiring attention. You approve the plan and we schedule treatment at your convenience.
Treatment Day
Our team treats all identified wood systematically. Most treatments complete in one day. You can remain home throughout the process with our tentless approach.
Protection Begins
Treatment eliminates active colonies and leaves residual protection within the wood. Your one-year warranty covers any return of termites to treated areas.
Protecting Different Types of Wood
Treatment approaches for various wood situations
Different wood types and locations require adapted treatment approaches. Our experience with South Florida homes means we understand how to treat each situation effectively.
Softwood Framing (Pine, Fir)
Most structural framing in Florida homes uses softwood lumber. These species are particularly attractive to termites and often show damage first. Treatment penetrates softwood readily, allowing products to spread through galleries effectively.
Hardwood Flooring and Trim
Oak, maple, and other hardwoods are denser but not termite-proof. When drywood termites infest hardwood, treatment requires slightly different drilling techniques to access internal galleries. We take care to minimize visible impact on finished surfaces.
Pressure-Treated Wood
Pressure-treated lumber is resistant to decay and somewhat resistant to subterranean termites, but not immune. Drywood termites can still infest treated exterior wood. When treatment is needed, we adapt our approach to the specific situation.
Engineered Wood Products
Plywood, OSB, LVL beams, and other engineered wood products are also vulnerable to termites. Treatment approaches vary based on the specific product and its location within the structure.
